Broadening Participation in Computer Science through Block Programming
Sun 4 Nov 2018 11:00 - 11:10 at Beacon Hill - Empowerment & Broadening Participation
Block languages like App Inventor make coding and computer science more accessible to students with no experience, broadening participation in computer science. In this paper, we present results from the AP Mobile CS Principles course about the demographics and the success of AP CSP and Mobile CSP students. The Mobile CSP course uses App Inventor, a block-based mobile programming language, and strategies to engage students in order to broaden participation in CS.
